Floods rock south U.S., thousands of homes damaged

Triggering flooding across the lower Mississippi valley, some people were killed after drowning thunderstorms moved through Louisiana and Mississippi.

Meteorologists said that rainfall reached two feet in some areas, killed three people in Louisiana and one in Oklahoma. According to emergency management officials 2 fishermen were missing in Mississippi.

President Barack Obama stated flooding in Louisiana a major disaster on Sunday, providing aid for victims. Louisiana’s emergency management office said some 5,000 homes had already been damaged.

The Louisiana National Guard said it had rescued more than 3,295 citizens and 316 pets. Some 1,300 guardsmen responded to flooding in more than 25 parishes, conducting evacuations, search and rescue by vehicle, boat and helicopter, and providing security and shelter.
As per the state emergency agency scores of roads and bridges were closed throughout the region at the weekend. In Mississippi, almost 400 homes suffered damage from the rainfall and flooding.

Apple hits back at ‘incisive’ claim by US government

James Bond production designer Ken Adam dies

Sir Ken Adam, famous for his work on Dr Strangelove and seven James Bond films, has died at the age of 95.Sir Ken Adam, died on Thursday at his home in London after a short time in hospital.

His death was confirmed by Sir Christopher Frayling “As a person he was remarkable. Roger Moore once said about him that his life was a great deal mo re interesting than most of the films that he designed said his biographer to BBC.

Sir Ken Adam, also designed the car in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Adam was born in Berlin, Germany to a Jewish family, the son of a former Prussian cavalryman. He was the son of Lilli (Saalfeld), who operated a boarding house, and Fritz Adam, who ran a successful high-fashion clothing store.

Beatles Sir George Martin dies at aged 90

The music producer Sir George Martin collaboration with the Beatles helped redraw the boundaries of popular music, died Tuesday. He was 90.
Sir George’s son Giles, who is also a producer, tweeted: “RIP dad. I love you. I’m so proud to have been your son. I’ll miss you more than words can say. Thank you for the all times we had together.”
“In a career that spanned seven decades he was recognized globally as one of music’s most creative talents and a gentleman to the end. The family ask that their privacy be respected at this time,” Sharp said.

He signed The Beatles and produced more than 700 records.
